Parsons-Bruce Art Association The Parsons-Bruce Art Association was founded in 1976 and named for two artists with Southside Virginia ties. Edith Baretto Stevens Parsons, a sculptor, was born in 1878 at "Woodburn", a home on Mountain Road in Halifax. Patrick Henry Bruce, a painter, was born in 1881 either at Long Island, in Campbell County, or at Tarover, a family home in Halifax County. Parsons-Bruce is the local affiliate of The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond.
